Football season is here and, being raised a die-hard Longhorn, I was extremely stoked when I discovered that my company was hosting its first annual FreightPros Longhorn Tailgate this season. Our sales manager Steve wakes up in the wee hours of the morning every home-game Saturday to set up our nice shaded and grass covered (which is ALWAYS a plus with the Texas heat) lot, located at 17th and Congress (Yes, you are invited to the next one, Oct 4th). He sets up all the tents, gets the music started and the booze flowing. Depending on when the games start, people usually start showing up around 2-3pm. Then the chaos begins. FreightPros Made The Inc. 5000 List! For my money, there are five main ingredients to any successful tailgate: Great People, Great Music, Beer Pong, Flip Cup, & No Bad Attitudes. As long as your tailgate possesses these qualifications, you are guaranteed one for the record books! For our first tailgate we had an amazing turnout. The only problem we had that day was fitting everyone on our lot (which is a great problem to have). The beer was flowing, jams were blasting, BBQ was piled high on paper plates, and the flip cup table was full up on healthy competition. Although it was a hot day, the Longhorns played a great game and won! Great start to the season (so we thought). Restaurant Review: Noble Sandwich Co. on Burnet It seemed in no time at all, week 2 of the tailgate saga commenced. Texas was playing BYU and for some reason we had a lot of press people stop by for interviews and pictures of our group. One picture even made it into the Austin American Statesman! Everyone had GIANT smiles on their faces and horns were up (granted they took the picture after our tenth round of flip cup). Unfortunately, UT lost to BYU, 41 to 7… OUCH! But, being a Longhorn fan since I entered this world, I stay loyal to the cause and continue to root for my Horns! Our next tailgate will be October 4th. I have no doubt in my mind that, with the cooling weather, it will be another great addition to this tailgating season. The amazing Stubb’s BBQ will be sponsoring the food, and as always there will be ice cold beer, great people, and memories to be made. I’ll see you all at the flip cup table if you’re up to the challenge. I rarely lose.
